Ingredients - Lard
Yes - we use lard in some of our soaps. Here is why? First, lard makes a wonderfully moisturizing and hard, long lasting soap. However, it goes a bit deeper. As part of our social responsibility, we feel that since the animal is going to be killed regardless of our feelings on the matter, the animal should be honored by using as much of that animal as we can. To not use all of the gifts of the animal would not only be wasteful, but highly disrespectful of, not only the animal's gift, but of the gifts from Mother Earth. As humans, the learning curve for recycling has been slow and tedious, but we are getting there. Vegan oils make all natural soaps, but so do animal fats. Pig skin is used often on burn victims through the healing process, to cover the severely burned tissues, for help in healing. Considering a pig's biological makeup is very similar to human, it is logical that lard would be one of the very best soaps for the human skin. So it is with this philosophy that we at Peji Hota Soap Company use lard in all good conciousness.

I Made You Soap
You are my family, my Oyate. There is nothing more important than the love we have for others, for our families. With love comes responsibility. The responsibility to help each other, to take care of each other, to stand strong when we are needed. I stand strong for you now, and always. I made you soap. Strange I know. But I made you soap. Soap to soothe your tender skin, to calm your hearts, and most importantly to wash away your tears, fears, and pain. And I will make you more soap to let you dream of strawberries and watermelon, soap to help you escape for just a few moments and relax so you are stronger in the end. So you can fight whatever battles you need to fight. Fight, my dear brother and sister. Fight strong and proud. I am proud of you. Take my strength, be strong, be proud. I stand strong for you. I made you soap. I fight with you, and of you I am so proud. May the Great Spirit, the Spirits of the Four Directions, and God watch over you, bless you and give you strength.

Ingredients - Milk (Coconut, Goat, and Soy)
We love the feeling of different milk soaps on our skin and use several different milks in the making of our soaps. We will always specify which milk (if any) is used in the descriptions of each soap so please read carefully in the event of any allergies. Coconut Milk - High in antioxidants phenolic antioxidants, coconut milk provides a soothing, natural, antiseptic that gently deep cleans and gently moisturzeseven ultra sensitive skin. Goats Milk - Goats make wonderful milk, there is no doubt about it. Making a lovely, moisturizing, creamy soap with natural emollients that helps moisturize and soothe the skin. Containing vitamins A, B6, B12 and E, goats milk is high in beta-casein which is easily asorbed into the skin allowing for fast skin hydration. Its often used for dry skin and to soothe skin irritations. Soy Milk - Full of proteins, amino acids, and lipids, soy milk allows rapid hydration and cell regeneration. This allows for more supple skin and therefore less aging and wrinkling. A natural source of phytoestrogens, critical to skin regeneration, soap made with soy milk helps the skin keep a youthful appearence. High in vitamin E, soy milk also assists in regeneration of damaged skin tissue and moisturizes the skin.

Ingredients - Coconut Oil
Coconut oil adds to the hardness of the soap, providing a fluffy lather, even in salt water. Coconut oil can be drying when when used in large amounts. Peji Hota Soap Company uses it in small amounts combined with other moisturizing oils such as lard and olive oil to counteract the drying effects.

What other ingredients do you use in your soap?
Ingredients used are listed in our descriptions with the exception of lye. Lye - Lye is used, and must be used, in the making of soap. Without it, we would not have soap. However, by the time the lye binds with the fatty acids in the oils, it no longer exists and is no longer caustic. Water - Water is an essential component of soap making. Peji Hota Soap Company uses only filtered water in our process to provide you with the highest quality of soap. Oils - various oils are used in the making of soap. Please read our FAQ on the various oils used. Castor Oil - castor oil, if used, is used in small amounts for added stable, fluffier lather and is very conditioning and moisturizing. Sugar and/or honey - both are used in various soaps, though not all, for increased creamieness and lather. Salt - we use salt for two reasons and at two different places in the process. Salt added at the beginning of the process will provide a nice long lasting very hard bar. When added at the end of the process, it adds a wonderful softness to the skin while adding the hard properties that allow for a long lasting soap that rinses clean. Essential Oils and other additives - these are used for to give the soap its aroma and texture. Please read descriptions carefully in the event of any possible allergies. Colorants - occasionally we color our soaps using natural colorants. All are deemed safe for use on the skin and are of the highest quality possible. Colorant, if used, will be noted in the product descriptions. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] should you have any questions about any of our ingredients.
